It is expected that Nigel McGuinness will return to work on WWE television very, very soon.

This is according to a new report from PWInsider, who understand that it won't be long before the former Ring Of Honor and Impact Wrestling competitor is back in a WWE announce booth. There's no word on when, exactly, this will be, or what brand McGuinness will end up working, having previously served on NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live. He's on his way, though.

Nigel was one of several WWE independent contractors furloughed on or around Black Wednesday (15 April), when the promotion put swathes of non-wrestlers on ice to mitigate the ongoing global health crisis' financial losses. This was the company line, anyway. The reality of it is that WWE is expected to make record profits in 2020 despite the illness currently ravaging the globe.

Nonetheless, McGuinness is a popular and skilled commentator who has made the role his own since being forced to retire from the ring in 2011. He was a regular part of NXT's announce team prior to the health crisis, so it'll be interesting to see how he fits into the new rotation, particularly with Wade Barrett fresh on the scene.
