Expect big things from Jordan Devlin in WWE going forward - not only because he's the new Cruiserweight Champion, but because wrestling legend Shawn Michaels is reportedly a "huge proponent" of the talented Irishman.

This is according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The story is particularly notable given Michaels' involvement with NXT and the WWE Performance Center, as while his praise would always mean something in wrestling regardless, that he's in this position increases the chances of tangible results on television.

Devlin overcame Angel Garza, Isiah 'Swerve' Scott and Travis Banks to become Cruiserweight Champion at Worlds Collide last weekend. Though he currently makes his home on NXT UK, the 'Irish Ace' is now expected to defend the strap across that brand, NXT's US-imprint, and 205 Live. This will hopefully lead to greater exposure and wider acknowledgements of his talents inside the ring and out.

It's a just reward for someone who has been a low-key standout in WWE's crowded talent pool for a while now and Devlin, at 29 years old, now looks set to take off. Let's see how far he can go.
