Report: This Released WWE Star Suffered Punishment Booking Before Being Cut

Backstage update on where things went sour for one of WWE's recently released wrestlers.

Lince Dorado may have fallen victim to punishment booking prior to his WWE release last week.

Dave Meltzer reports in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Dorado and Gran Metalik's loss to Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo taped for Main Event on 13 September was viewed by some within the company as punishment for Dorado, who took the fall.

Dorado, upset at losing to what was then considered a makeshift team, wanted to speak to Vince McMahon afterwards. As the match was taking place on Main Event and therefore wouldn't be seen by many people, this didn't sit well.

Lince was the first Lucha House Party member to request his release, with partner Gran Metalik making up his mind soon after. Per Meltzer, Metalik had actually wanted out of the company prior to this, though he wasn't considered the kind of person who would have straight-up requested to be let go.

Both Metalik and Dorado will be free to appear and sign for other promotions when their 90-day non-compete clauses run out on 2 February 2022. Both came into WWE through the acclaimed Cruiserweight Classic tournament in 2016.
