Is this REALLY what WWE's tag division needs right now?

WWE is about to pull the trigger on splitting Rey and Dominik Mysterio up.

This is according to Mat Men's Andrew Zarian, who tweeted the following on Wednesday evening, with the caption accompanied by a picture of the former SmackDown Tag Team Champions:-

Spoke with a source at WWE. The breakup and feud is happening soon.

WWE has been hinting at a Rey/Dominik split for several months now. Miscommunication and other slip-ups are near-constants in their matches, with the father/son tandem regularly costing each other victories, typically by mistake. This is likely being done to instill a sense of frustration in Dominik in particular, as there are times when Rey has been moderately overbearing in dishing out fatherly advice to his still-green offspring.

Rey and Dominik have been together for the duration of the latter's full-time run, which effectively commenced through a feud with Seth Rollins last May. The two made SmackDown their home last year, capturing the Tag Team Titles from Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, but dropped the straps to The Usos at Money in the Bank 2021 and had never looked like regaining them prior to being traded to Raw in the 2021 WWE Draft.

Now, it looks like a split and singles feud could be on the horizon.
