Shayna Baszler was in line to become WWE Raw Women's Champion until Vince McMahon put his foot down and binned the move, according to a new report from Fightful Select.

The story states that 'The Queen of Spades' was originally booked to defeat Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36, ending 'The Man's' year-long title reign, but McMahon scrapped this idea as he felt it wouldn't resonate without a live crowd. A bizarre justification if true, given that the promotion pulled the trigger on World Title wins for Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman at 'The Show of Shows.'

This wouldn't be the first time WWE had performed a U-turn on a potential career-making victory for Baszler, having previously planned for her to win this year's Royal Rumble before going for the safer option in Charlotte Flair instead.

Per recent reports, Vince has now soured on Baszler completely, hence her recent absence from WWE Raw. The WWE Chairman and CEO hasn't connected with Baszler's MMA-influenced style, leading to her sudden demotion out of the spotlight.

Shayna recently taped a Main Event match against an undisclosed opponent that will air sometime in the next few weeks.
