WWE recently discussed pulling the trigger on a running a soft break-up storyline with The New Day, reports WrestleVotes.

The well-known news and rumours account tweeted the following on Thursday evening:-

Kingston has been absent from SmackDown since late July, when it was reported that he would be on the shelf for somewhere between four and eight weeks after suffering an injury. This coincided with an angle that saw the former WWE Champion give Big E his blessing to embark on his first singles run in years, with the New Day powerhouse making in-roads towards the top of the card, though this stalled with his removal from a recent number one contender's match.

If Kofi's original return window still holds true, the popular star should be due to return to television imminently. We await confirmation of when, exactly, this will go down.

Keeping the New Day intact but on separate brands is an interesting proposal. It would give Kingston and E space to compete as singles wrestlers without having to worry about getting in each other's way, though the idea of Xavier Woods in a non-wrestling role is disappointing, as he is a fine competitor himself.
