Report: WWE's Rey Mysterio Considered Retirement At WrestleMania 39
Rey Mysterio has at least discussed the idea of retiring with Triple H, BUT...
Rey Mysterio has discussed the possibility of retiring from professional wrestling at WrestleMania 39 with WWE, report GiveMeSport and WrestleVotes.
The report states that at one point, Mysterio was going to retire at the 1/2 April supershow in Los Angeles, California. Now, however, his match with son Dominik isn't expected to be his last, despite WWE entering Rey into its Hall of Fame as part of this year's class.
WrestleVotes stated that the veteran high-flyer has been "kind of reinvigorated" by his ongoing storyline with Dominik. Although Rey had talked about retirement with head of creative Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, this might not be the case anymore.
WWE is yet to formally announce Rey vs. Dominik for WrestleMania 39. The storyline's current iteration revolves around Dominik trying to provoke his father into fighting him, staging home invasions, interrupting family meals, and more, in increasingly elaborate attempts to raise his dad's ire. Thus far, Rey has refrained from fighting back.
The Mysterio family feud started at Clash at the Castle last September, when Dominik turned his back on Rey, joining Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley in The Judgment Day.
