Rhyno Loses Election Bid
The Man-Beast's political career has been Gored.
WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump is the next President of the USA, but Rhyno didn't fare as well in last night's polls.
Rhyno (real name: Terry Gerin) was running for a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives on Tuesday. Standing in the state's 15th division, he earned the right to represent the Republican party after winning their primary, but garnered just 38.2% of votes (13,452 total) in the general election. Abdullah Hammoud of the Democratic Party won with 21,739 votes - a 61.8% share.
Rhyno leaned heavily on his pro-wrestling career throughout his campaign, and even enlisted help from Kurt Angle in an advert that saw the Olympic Gold Medalist drumming-up voter support for his former colleague. His campaign website describes him as a "politician by day, and a professional wrestler" by night, and though some early reports pegged him as a winner, Rhyno came-up well short at the ballot box.
Rhyno was in Glasgow for last night's SmackDown tapings instead of being in Michigan for election night, and had missed a full week of campaigning while on WWE's ongoing European tour. He can now focus his full attention on Team SmackDown's forthcoming ten-man tag elimination match at Survivor Series, and holding onto his SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
