Ricky Starks AEW 'Free Agent' Rumors - Backstage Latest

Rumors have swirled about former tag champ's future with All Elite Wrestling.

Before anyone starts making plans to bring "Ricky Starks" signs to the WWE Raw after WrestleMania, it's probably a good idea to pump the brakes.

Rumors circulated this weekend that Starks is a free agent and his AEW deal has expired, but Fightful Select is throwing cold water on that notion. The outlet asked around in the company and were told "that would be news to them," confirming that Starks' deal is not up.

Starks has not competed in AEW since he and Big Bill lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to Darby Allin and Sting on the 7 February Dynamite. His most recent match came the following night for the relaunched Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling.

Starks has been the subject of rumors of leaving AEW for WWE for a while. They picked up serious steam in January 2023 when he was spotted backstage at the Royal Rumble supporting his friend Cody Rhodes. With the American Nightmare being positioned atop the card in WWE, it's only fueled the rumors that his buddy Pretty Ricky could join him in Stamford.

For now though, those rumors are just the latest in fictitious stories shared by less reputable social media accounts.
