Don't expect to see the former Women's World Champion in an AEW ring anytime soon.

All Elite Wrestling's Riho is injured.

The former Women's World Champion tweeted the following overnight on Thursday, saying she is "taking a rest" while posting a picture of her right arm in a sling:-

What Riho has posted is the extent of what has been revealed thus far. The when, where, and how of her injury is a mystery, as is its extent and how long she'll be out of action. Nonetheless, all the best to her as she recovers.

The Japanese star last wrestled on the 8 January Battle of the Belts special, where she lost her shot at Britt Baker's Women's Championship. Though she spent much of 2020 back in Japan following the COVID-19 pandemic's onset, working Stardom undercards, she returned to the United States in February 2021 and has been a regular ever since - barring another trip home last spring.

Crowned AEW's first Women's World Champion in December 2019, when she defeated Nyla Rose, Riho emerged as a quarter-hour ratings draw for the promotion during her 133-day reign, particularly among younger viewers. That reign ended by Rose's hand in February 2020.
