Rob Van Dam Missed WWE Battleground With Injury

Only 19 men competed in the IC Battle Royal, not the 20 that was advertised.

WWE Battleground is in the record books and an advertised element was missing. The Intercontinental Championship battle royal was supposed to feature 20 men but instead ended up having only 19. Ithe weeks leading up to the pay per view or special event (depending on where you live) Rob Van Dam was mentioned several times to be a part of the match. Some fans may have even bet on him to win, but he did not appear, nor was his absence explained or even mentioned anywhere during the telecast. The only official acknowledgement of this discrepancy exists in the write up of the match on the WWE website in the very last line; €œAlthough scheduled to be in the bout, RVD did not compete due to injury. Stay with WWE.com for more on RVD's condition.€ Either the injury was discovered in the last few hours or RVD & WWE intentionally misled audiences to think that he would be a part of the show. Mere hours before the show went to air RVD on his official twitter was still hyping up his fans to anticipate his performance on the show. IT would not be the first time that an injury was discovered to be far more serious than initially thought. Hopefully Van Dam will be back in action sooner than later. Screen
