Rocky Johnson Cause Of Death Revealed
Rest in power, 'Soulman'.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson died due to a blood clot.
On Wednesday, the wrestling world was in mourning for one of the true pioneers of professional wrestling when 'Soulman' Rocky Johnson passed away at the age of 75 at his home in Lutz, Florida.
Brian Blair - a former WWE star himself - told The Times that Johnson passed away due to 'a blood clot traveled from his leg into his lung,' before adding that 'he died of natural causes.'
Blair previously told the Wrestling Observer that Johnson was suffering with flu-like symptoms for the two weeks leading up to his death.
Johnson's close friend, Blair, also went on to state that 'he’d want to be remembered as someone who wrestled around the world, fought segregation, fought through many trials and tribulations, and still won.'
Johnson's funeral service looks set to be a private affair, with only close friends and family expected to attend.
Johnson, alongside Tony Atlas, can claim to being the first black champions in WWE history and he was also the father of one of the biggest superstars ever to grace the world of pro wrestling in Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
The Rock took to Instagram to pay his respects to his father and signed off his heartfelt post by saying 'I love you dad and I’ll always be your proud and grateful son. Go rest high.'
Our thoughts and feelings go out to the Johnson family at this time.
