For those looking forward to seeing Rey Mysterio battle Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a Hell in a Cell contest at the HIAC PPV this Sunday, WWE has made the decision to actually bring that match forward to tonight!

WWE took to social media to confirm that Mysterio and Reigns will battle in the cell structure on tonight’s episode of SmackDown rather than waiting until Sunday.

Kayfabe-wise, Rey Rey asked for the match to be brought forward from Sunday as this whole situation was eating him up inside. Quick to respond, the High Chief was happy to accept Mysterio’s proposal – and thus, the two will square off in a Hell in a Cell offering later today.

The past few weeks have seen Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik the latest names to be in the crosshairs of the dominant Reigns, with the Head of the Table laying a brutal beatdown on the father and son duo, before the Mysterios would get some semblance of revenge thanks to a kendo stick-led act of retaliation.

There has been talk in recent weeks that WWE is looking to make its TV product more must-see and more exciting, and having a major Hell in a Cell match take place on regular WWE programming is certainly something that the company will expect to bring eyes to SmackDown.

Of course, the other side of the coin here, is that this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell PPV has currently lost one of its most anticipated matches.
