Just a few hours out from tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, it’s been revealed that Universal Champion Roman Reigns will make a “blockbuster announcement” on this week’s edition of WWE’s blue brand action.

Considering the Elimination Chamber PPV is just over a week away, logic suggests that the High Chief’s announcement will be relating to that.

While WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has already been confirmed to be defending his title in a Chamber match at next weekend’s PPV, there’s yet to be any word on what Reigns will be up to on 21 February.

Previous reports claim that a second Chamber match will indeed be taking place at the upcoming PPV, that this will be a SmackDown-branded contest, and that it will not feature the blue brand’s female talent.

The two main options on the table right now seem to be either Roman defends the Universal Championship in an Elimination Chamber match, or six SmackDown stars compete in the Chamber to earn a shot at the Head of the Table’s title.

Current belief is that Edge will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37, but given how WWE has the Fastlane PPV scheduled for March, there is still an opportunity for A.N. Other to get a shot at Reigns – particularly as WWE will be looking to make Fastlane seem like a major deal, due to it being the first PPV to take place once WWE Network becomes exclusive to Peacock.
