Ronda Rousey Vs Charlotte Flair Official For WWE WrestleMania 38
Rousey announces she'll face Charlotte Flair for Smackdown Women's Championship.
Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey didn't mince words Friday night in announcing who she will face at WrestleMania for a women's championship: Charlotte Flair.
Although a really easy, straightforward storyline exists for Rousey to challenge Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch, the only woman to defeat Ronda in WWE, the company has decided that the money is on the Rowdy One facing Flair at Mania.
Naturally, we got a bit of misdirection with Charlotte deciding to choose her own challenger for WrestleMania: Sasha Banks. This went nowhere fast, as Rousey came out -- playing babyface this time unlike Raw -- and told Flair that she was "one of many (she owes) an a** beating to" before declaring she wasn't special, she was just the first opponent.
Flair called her title her baby, which was prettier than Ronda's. This led to a scuffle that saw Sonya Deville try to exert control over Rousey, get shoved away and slap a sleeper on the former UFC champ, only to be dropped and have her arm snapped via armbar.
While not surprising, this is sure to be controversial among fans who believed that Lynch and Rousey finally facing each other one-on-one would be the big match for the biggest show of the year.
Rousey and Flair squared off in a one-on-one match at Survivor Series 2018, with Ronda winning via DQ. The two and Lynch later were the first women to main-event a WrestleMania (35) in 2019, where Becky ended Rousey's undefeated streak and took both women's championships.
