WWE Hell In A Cell 2017 closed on a shocking note, with Kevin Owens defeating Shane McMahon inside the titular structure following an assist from an unlikely source - Sami Zayn.

Owens had already fallen through one announce table when McMahon went for the killing blow. With KO prone on another, the SmackDown Commissioner scaled the cell, said his prayers, then prepared to fly. He dived, but a hoodie-clad Zayn appeared at ringside and pulled Owens to safety, causing McMahon to smash through the table.

Sami then completed what looks like a heel turn by placing KO on top of Shane, pulling a referee over, and calling for him to count the pin. The pay-per-view concluded with McMahon being fitted with a neck brace then slid onto a stretcher, Zayn looking conflicted, and Owens unable to stand of his own accord.

Sami had played a secondary role in the feud prior to last night, spending the past few weeks warning Shane and anyone who'd listened that KO had lost his mind. This will be the first time he has played heel since joining WWE in January 2013.
