After weeks of trying to convince Raw General Manager Mick Foley to make the match, Sami Zayn has finally gotten his wish. At Roadblock: End of the Line, the former NXT Champion will get another crack at the undefeated Braun Strowman.

Zayn and Strowman first locked horns on the November 21 episode of Raw, with the much larger Strowman easily dominating Zayn. With Strowman having inflicted so much punishment, Foley stopped the match, but Zayn was furious at the decision. The following week, Zayn demanded another match with Strowman, but Foley refused to grant it.

Zayn continued to hound Foley for the match, eventually forcing the GM to admit that he didn't think Zayn could beat Strowman. An angry Zayn criticized Foley for not letting him take the same risks that Foley did in his career, then made it clear that he wanted to be traded to Smackdown. Foley agreed and said Zayn would be traded for Eva Marie, but it was all a ruse to see how badly Zayn wanted the match. Foley booked the bout, giving it a ten-minute time limit to see if Zayn could last 10 minutes with Strowman.
