Sammy Guevara Returns On AEW Dynamite
'The Spanish God' is back in AEW after serving a 30-day suspension.
Sammy Guevara was back on AEW television last night, returning on the 30th day of a suspension handed out for making a tasteless joke about WWE's Sasha Banks on a podcast a few years ago.
The angle played out during Dynamite's main event. Guevara's Inner Circle stablemates Chris Jericho and Jake Hager were wrestling Jungle Express' Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy when regular enhancement talent Serpentico appeared to hit the apron. He clocked Luchsaurus with Jericho's baseball bat, allowing 'Le Champion' to hit a Codebreaker and get the win, with the beatdown continuing after the bell.
The Serpentico mask was pulled away after he'd hit a Shooting Star Press, leading to the Guevara reveal. The Inner Circle is whole once more.
Guevara's suspension was part of an apparent reeducation programme rolled out once the clip of Sammy's comments went viral. The 26-year-old's pay went to a Jacksonville women's group during that period, with the up-and-comer undergoing sensitivity training as well.
Sammy has issued several apologies since the remarks resurfaced and also spoke to Banks directly, with the WWE wrestler issuing a classy statement on the matter that very same day. Here's hoping Guevara has truly learned his lesson.
