Sammy Guevara Talks IMPACT Controversy: "It's Business At The End Of The Day”
Sammy Guevara finally opens up about what went down between him and IMPACT Wrestling.
Sammy Guevara has finally shed some light on the controversy surrounding him and IMPACT Wrestling.
The AEW star was scheduled to appear on IMPACT around the time he storyline "quit" The Inner Circle. However, it was soon reported that The Spanish God wasn't interested in the plan the promotion had previously agreed on with AEW and suggested another direction. Said direction would have supposedly seen Guevara winning the X-Division Championship before taking it to AEW and putting the belt up in a tournament.
IMPACT rejected this pitch and the promotion subsequently told Guevara to not bother showing up, despite already catching a flight to make the tapings.
Now, Guevara has opened about the whole IMPACT mess, telling Fightful:
"It’s business at the end of the day. What was presented, I didn’t see it working for me. I still wish nothing but the best for IMPACT and everybody there. I didn’t put no information out online and I know there’s only a certain amount of people that knew certain information, so the information that was put out online is only coming from one side. I wish we could have kept it more close-knit instead of having to make it everybody’s business, because I feel like it wasn’t necessary for everybody to know any of this stuff. So that’s why I started trolling on the vlog, and certain things are coming out where I’m like, ‘Yo, this is not true at all’. So, don’t believe everything you read online. But hey man, it is what it is. We all could have handled things better, but that’s life in general man. You live, you learn, you grow and you go."
Thankfully, it appears the whole drama has been put behind both parties now.
Guevara will next be seen lining up alongside his Inner Circle teammates in Wednesday's Blood and Guts encounter against MJF's The Pinnacle, and IMPACT have continued to work alongside AEW in recent times, with Kenny Omega even winning the company's top title at Rebellion.
