The team you keep forgetting are actually on WWE's books, the Authors of Pain, are finally set to reappear on company programming.

That is according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, who has come through with a report stating that "there is a working plan to have them return to TV soon", and that SmackDown is their probable destination.

Incredibly, Akam and Rezar - after a crazed misadventure in the promotion of an ill-fated UK tour under the 'Wrestling Entertainment Series' banner, which never did end up happening - were re-signed to WWE deals in 2022, before Vince McMahon resigned in disgrace. After a LOLWCW moment of administration, at long last, the team is set to return.

An unexpected highlight of peak NXT, Akam and Rezar added a different complexion to the workrate-heavy stylings of the tag team division, having improved significantly after an infamously reckless early stint. As was so often the case, they didn't exactly get over nor experience much success on the main roster.

They are remembered mostly for an odd association with Drake Maverick and an only slightly less unsuccessful run with Seth Rollins as the 'Visionary' struggled, initially, to transition into a heel role - but may rewrite their own story yet.
