Shawn Michaels' 10 Best Matches Ever
2. Vs. The Undertaker (WrestleMania 25)
Undertaker was coming off two straight WrestleMania classics with Batista and Edge, while Michaels has never had even a remotely-bad WrestleMania match in his life. The two didn't have much story beyond Michaels yearning to be the one to end The Streak, and that was fine. It's Undertaker vs. Michaels, what else needs to be said?
More than any other match in recent memory, Michaels vs. Undertaker inspired the desire for WrestleMania to have a token "classic", usually without a championship on the line, to try and anchor the event. Its half-hour length, litany of false finishes, and mostly-basic storyline were all contributors to the match's excellence - the match was about the match. The result was all that mattered.
It's also telling that for the first time in years, it seemed like Michaels had the most realistic chance of conquering the perfect record. Other opponents, while of star quality, don't exist on the same plane as Michaels, whose work can make agnostics temporarily find divinity.
