Sheamus And Cesaro Added To WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Match
WWE Tag Team Champions join the fray!
Odd couple WWE Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus have been officially announced as competing in the 2017 Royal Rumble match, meaning that half of the field for the bout has now been revealed.
The association between the two men has developed oddly, to say the least. In August, "The Swiss Superman" and the former WWE Champion kicked off a best-of-seven series, with Sheamus getting the first win at SummerSlam's kickoff show. Sheamus would ultimately rack up a 3-0 lead before Cesaro made his comeback, evening the score heading into their final showdown at Clash of Champions.
At that show, they battled to a no contest, ultimately tying the series. Raw GM Mick Foley had promised a title shot to the winner, so he gave them both one in the form of a Tag Team Championship match with The New Day. Though The New Day retained the belts at Hell in a Cell, "Shesaro" continued to team together, winning the belts at Roadblock: End of the Line despite their frequent personality clashes.
The 2017 Royal Rumble airs live on the WWE Network on Sunday, January 29 at 7:00 PM ET. Cesaro and Sheamus are the 14th and 15th men announced for the titular bout, joining Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods, Baron Corbin, Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, The Miz, and The Undertaker.
