Southpaw Regional Wrestling Coming To WWE Network
WWE's territorial parody series jumps behind the streaming paywall.
Southpaw Regional Wrestling is coming to the WWE Network, according to WWENetworkNews.com.
The write-up states that WWE have finally decided to bring their short-form parody series to their streaming service several months after uploading the first season to YouTube. The first season of Southpaw will be added on Monday, September 25th, with the second set to follow sometime in the future.
Originally debuting on May 19th, WWE marketed SRW as "the bizarre and hilarious history of a wrestling promotion once thought lost to time." A comedic tribute to the sport's territorial era, it stars the likes of John Cena, Rusev, and Fandango as fans have never seen them before, and its second season was released on August 18th.
There's no word on whether or not WWE will produce a third season, or even bring one of Southpaw's fictional supercards ('Lethal Leap year' & 'The Showdown At The Swamp') to life now that they're coming to the Network.
A fun, light-hearted diversion from WWE's mainstream product, SRW drew widespread acclaim from those who watched it, though its addition won't exactly drive Network subscriptions - all 10 episodes are still available for free on YouTube.
