Tyler Bate won the vacated WWE NXT UK Title during recent tapings in London.
Now-former champ Ilja Dragunov reportedly turned up for the latest round of episodes with a boot on his foot. The injured Ilja then relinquished his title before WWE announced an eight-man tournament in front of the cameras.
That tourney wrapped up when Bate defeated former Moustache Mountain partner Trent Seven in the final. This is Tyler's second run with the belt - he was previously WWE UK Champion (before the title's name was changed to reflect NXT UK) back in 2017.
Bate held the strap for 125 days before dropping it to Pete Dunne/Butch at NXT TakeOver: Chicago.
Dragunov's reign has ended at 319 days. He won it from WALTER/Gunther back at NXT TakeOver 36 in August 2021, but this unspecified foot injury has caused him to vacate. Interestingly enough, Ilja is still slated to defend the belt against Wolfgang on TV.
That match hasn't aired yet, meaning it'll be a while before Bate's own title success is shown on television. There's no word quite yet on whether or not it'll be weeks or months before he's crowned on programming.
