Whether or not Sting is suffering from something legitimate is currently unclear, given that The Undisputed Elite beat him down on last week's episode of Dynamite. That angle saw Kyle O'Reilly deliberately target his angle in what could be perceived as a worked injury. However, that AEW is offering ticket refunds suggests that whatever prevented Sting from travelling is legitimate.
The 63-year-old has been on AEW's books since debuting for the promotion at December 2020's Winter is Coming event. He has since worked nine bouts for the company, winning them all, defying expectations with his physical performances, and staying one of the most over people in the company in the process.
Sting's last match came on the 23 March episode of Dynamite, on which he teamed with Darby Allin and The Hardys to face AFO members Private Party and The Butcher and The Blade.
