The past weeks have brought multiple reports on 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin potentially coming out of retirement to wrestle at WrestleMania 38 next month, with Kevin Owens pinpointed as his opponent, though this is far from set in stone.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no guarantee that the rumoured Owens vs. Austin confrontation will end up being a match. While there will likely be something between the two when 'Mania hits Dallas on 2 and 3 April, its final form is currently unknown, though the general belief is that it'll be more than just KO eating a Stone Cold Stunner.

Meltzer notes that WWE wants a match between the two. Austin, however, has been extremely careful on the prospect of a comeback over the years, as he doesn't want to disappoint the fans.

At the time of writing, Austin had not yet agreed to work a match at WrestleMania 38.

'Stone Cold' last fought at WrestleMania 19 in 2003, when he was defeated by The Rock to close their 'Mania trilogy. The legend has turned down multiple opportunities to wrestle again since then.
