Tessa Blanchard Set For Impact World Title Push?

'The Queen of the Carolinas' could be in line for Impact's top prize.

Impact Wrestling's Tessa Blanchard is likely on the verge of breaking down boundaries by seizing one of the promotion's top men's championships.

As pointed out by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently, Impact's recent presentation of the 24-year-old suggests that the promotion's current goal is a slow-build towards winning one of their top belts, with the idea being that they'll mitigate any backlash by "making the people want it before they do it."

The people certainly wanted it at last week's Bound For Glory pay-per-view, where Blanchard came within a hair of becoming X Division Champion before Ace Austin struck her with a baton as she was reaching for the belt.

That match's outcome suggests Impact have something bigger in mind for Tessa, though. It might be Impact's trademark division, but the X Division strap is very much secondary, and her ladder match failure opens a path towards Brian Cage and the Impact World Championship.

Cage most recently feuded with Sami Callihan, whom he defeated in Bound For Glory's main event. Tessa, too, has issues with Callihan, making it relatively easy to tie the storylines together and place her in a potential title feud.
