That Time WWE Boss Vince McMahon Thought Lance Storm Was DEAD

Vinnie Mac got burned by Wikipedia...

Vince McMahon once phoned Dave Meltzer because he thought Lance Storm had died.

The recently-released Storm shared this rather random story on his Twitter page a while back, and went into details about receiving a call from Meltzer about some drama he had no clue was even happening. McMahon had left a voicemail for Dave asking to talk about Lance's passing, then dropped another in the Wrestling Observer chief's inbox telling him not to bother.

He realised too late it was actually Lance Cade who had passed away, not Lance Storm.

Both Storm and Meltzer spent the next few hours trying to figure out why Vince would be so compelled to discuss the Canadian's death. Lance later speculated that maybe the WWE boss would've been concerned by negative PR had another wrestler passed on so young.

He's not 100% sure though.

Meltzer also thought McMahon's call was strange, because Vince hadn't spoken with Dave in quite some time or reached out about anything else. The baffled pair did spot that Storm's death had been reported on Wikipedia (twice!), so it might've had something to do with that.

What a weird misunderstanding.
