The making of Edge as a singles star, this match was devised as a way to give Mick Foley his great WrestleMania moment, and it delivered on that promise and then some. Two of the finer actors the company has seen, they sold the story - that Edge would be taken to extremes he had never imagined - brilliantly.

The hardcore stipulations were right in Foley’s wheelhouse (though Edge has been known for his risk taking, too), and he demonstrated his street smarts early on in a great spot. Edge speared Foley, but seemed to suffer the brunt of his own attack. Foley removed his over shirt to show that he had wrapped his body in barbed wire.

From there it was sick moment after sick moment. Both wrestlers ended up studded with thumb tacks, and Lita got a taste of barbed wire, too. The match was crowned by an unforgettable spear through a burning table, which went off brilliantly. The match was hardcore brawling done exactly right, full of memorable moments and leaving both men looking the real deal.
