The New Day Vs. The Wyatt Family Official For WWE Battleground 2016
WWE.com announces six-man non-title match.
Fresh off of a segment on Raw showing grainy footage of a forest encounter between The New Day and The Wyatt Family, WWE.com has announced that the two teams will square off at Battleground.
The six-man match will pit Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods against Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman. The WWE Tag Team Titles will not be on the line.
The announcement comes as little surprise, given that the teams have been feuding on television for weeks. The Wyatt Family had been off television for months following a post-WrestleMania injury to Bray, but the group returned on the Raw after Money in the Bank, confronting The New Day.
That appearance showed that plans to turn the Wyatts face were quashed, as the group antagonized the ultra-popular New Day (and seemingly hypnotized Xavier Woods). Since then, the two factions have been at odds, with Woods particularly afraid of the strange trio.
The New Day won the WWE Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam 2015 and have defended them against numerous opponents, although so far in 2016, only three Pay-Per-View events have hosted matches for the titles. If The New Day hold the belts through next week's first live episode of Smackdown, they'll have passed Paul London and Brian Kendrick with the longest individual reign as champions.
