The Real Reason CM Punk Missed WWE Backstage Last Night

It was out with the Punk, in with the HHH on last night's Backstage...

CM Punk starred in a headline-making debut as an analyst on WWE Backstage last week, getting the wrestling world talking with his comments on a potential in-ring return, Seth Rollins' Twitter activity, and the "garbage" Baron Corbin/Roman Reigns feud... but he wasn't on last night's show.

That Triple H was being advertised as a guest and the former 'Voice of the Voiceless' was not lead to speculation that this was down to a political issue, given Punk's critical comments towards Hunter over the past few years. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.

A fan tweeted Punk asking why he wasn't on the show last night. The new Backstage correspondent responded with the following:-

Punk was never announced or advertised as somebody who'd be appearing on Backstage every single week. WWE.com's official announcement stated that he'd feature periodically, so absences like last night's are to be expected, though it would have been extremely interesting to see him interacting with Vince McMahon's "doofus son-in-law."

There's currently no word on when Punk's next WWE Backstage appearance will come, though his first coincided with an 80% increase in ratings.
