The REAL Reason Why AEW's Cody Rhodes Dyed His Hair

Cody's dye job was part of a sneaky storyline that AEW fans just didn't get.

Cody Rhodes could've been your Superman.

During a special 'Outside The Ring' Q&A session with Lexy Nair, the AEW man discussed his sudden hair colour change back in October. According to Rhodes, this was a nod towards a storyline in 'The Death Of Superman'; sadly for Cody, fans didn't seem to catch on to what he was going for, so he quietly bleached his hair back from dark brown/black to blonde.

In 'The Return Of Superman', Clark Kent returned with longer hair than before and a darker suit. It was considered a dramatic change, and that's what Cody was going for here. Sadly, he didn't rock the same mullet that Kent did - that would've got Twitter talking!

Rhodes didn't get much of a response at all, actually. He seemed to be rather miffed at that during the interview, but admitted "blondes have more fun" anyway.

It doesn't look like Cody will try dying his hair again any time soon. He's ever-so-slightly disappointed that AEW fans didn't catch on or see what he was trying to do.

Maybe he needed a big "S" on his chest to hammer home the point.
