The REAL Reason Why WWE Chose Las Vegas To Host SummerSlam 2021?
WWE's human side came out when seeking a host city for this year's SummerSlam.
WWE President Nick Khan has explained why the company settled on Las Vegas for this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view on 21 August.
According to Khan, WWE chiefs recognised the economic impact COVID-19 has had on the Vegas area. Business, naturally, has hit the floor - so, to help remedy that, WWE decided to bring one of the biggest events of the year to Allegiant Stadium.
Some will be rolling their eyes at this humanitarian effort, and Nick knows it; he also went on to talk about how much WWE wanted to run a show from the new stadium anyway. They realise they'll be one of the first major acts to play the venue too.
However, Khan told Las Vegas’ FOX 5 station that helping to "stimulate the [local] economy" would "be the right thing to do with the city".
Does this sound like convenient spin? Absolutely, but there's no doubting the impact WWE's most major events can have on an area's economy. The promotion are also expecting a big crowd at Allegiant in August, and that'll please city chiefs (provided certain protocols are adhered to).
WWE's human side just came out, at least a little.
