The Undertaker's Mystery WrestleMania 32 Opponent NOT From WWE Roster
Current plan calls for The Phenom to battle someone not on the roster...
One of the most pressing questions leading into WrestleMania 32 is just who The Undertaker will face. Even though his winning streak at the event was shattered by Brock Lesnar two years ago, The Phenom's bouts are still a major drawing point for the show of shows, and odds are he doesn't have too many left. A battle of legends with John Cena was initially slated for the event, but Cena suffered a shoulder injury in January that was estimated to keep him out of action for six to nine months. Given that Cena often returns from injury early, many are holding out hope that he'll be able to make the show. Still, WWE is playing it safe and assuming he won't, so they've come up with a backup plan. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an opponent for The Undertaker has been selected, and it's not John Cena, Kevin Owens, Brock Lesnar, or Braun Strowman. Though the choice is still a secret, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Undertaker's opponent is not currently a member of the WWE roster. Obviously, this raises some interesting speculation. Meltzer discussed the possibly of Sting being Undertaker's opponent, leading to a much-anticipated dream match, but WCW's franchise is currently awaiting surgery for spinal stenosis. Perhaps he could physically wrestle one last match at 'Mania, but it's hard to say if he'd be able to get clearance. Likewise, an NXT talent could challenge 'Taker, but the brand's top stars aren't expected to leave anytime soon. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe are scheduled for a showdown two days before WrestleMania, while Apollo Crews will likely win the NXT Championship before leaving the brand. Likewise, Hideo Itami is not expected back from a shoulder injury anytime soon. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see who faces The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
