This Iconic Wrestling Moment WASN'T Off The Cuff

Samoa Joe has revealed the real truth about this iconic wrestling promo.

Samoa Joe has revealed that Scott Steiner's infamous math-based promo from the old TNA days wasn't actually some off-the-cuff rant from Steiner at all. In fact, Petey Williams corpsing ruined the whole thing and meant Scotty had to try again.

Joe told 'Under The Ring' that he was there to witness the promo happen off-camera, and he found the whole thing "hilarious". Apparently, so did Petey - 'Maple Leaf Muscle' couldn't stop himself from laughing once Steiner launched into a speech about an upcoming three-way match vs. Joe and Kurt Angle.

Clips of the promo became stuff of legend soon afterwards, because everyone reasoned that Scott had lost his mind once he started tying himself in knots with numbers. His, "The numbers don't lie" line was maybe even the one that got to Williams and forced a re-take.

Yes, this mathematical mayhem took multiple takes before everyone was satisfied with what they had. Basically, the second take is the one that aired on TV, chiefly 'cause lil' Petey couldn't stop giggling at his tag-team partner's antics.

Joe still finds the moment funny to this day.
