Stephanie McMahon has seen everything WWE life has to offer.

She grew up watching her mother and father run the then-WWF, then Steph herself transitioned into juggling backstage/on-air roles with the company. Recently, McMahon told Sports Business Journal’s I Factor what her very earliest memory of the pro wrestling industry is.

It's a surprising one.

Stephanie recalled attending a house show at the old Philadelphia Spectrum. She was just five years old, and was immediately taken by the ringside atmosphere and excitement. That all changed when she went backstage and walked through the hallways - McMahon couldn't believe how comparatively mundane and sterile everything was compared to the other side of the curtain.

She'll never forget strolling past endless strips of bright, fluorescent lighting, cold linoleum floors and lifeless concrete walls. That, even at such a young age, left an impression on Steph and told her how much of a contrast there was between reality and showmanship.

Then, George Steele rounded the corner and scared the life out of her. A petrified Stephanie crawled up her father's leg and watched in horror as he laughed off her fright. As a kid, she naturally didn't know that Steele was only playing a character.

She told listeners that she fell in love with everything the biz had to offer at that very moment. Steph loved the contrast.
