Tony Khan And Ariel Helwani CLASH On Twitter

Tony Khan took aim at Ariel Helwani on Twitter last night.

On the back of the well-known MMA journalist popping up on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown, which went down in his hometown of Montreal, the AEW President had a thing or two to say about Helwani on social media.

With Helwani being announced as a "combat sports journalist" on the WWE-produced show, Khan fired a tweet out stating that Ariel was a "fraud" before stating that he was "as legitimate of a reporter as Tony Shiavone."

Helwani would eventually respond on the site by thanking his "old friend" for watching his most recent WWE appearance, and would follow that up by confessing that he couldn't wait for the pair's next chat. The MMA legend also ended his reply with the parting shot of "(Also, don’t listen to the snowman, Schiavone. You’re a legend in my books.).”

Shots fired, indeed.

Khan then offered up a "Good luck with the unbiased journalism", with Helwani still yet to respond to that final tweet as of writing.

The two infamously took part in a particularly awkward interview last year on Helwani's MMA Hour show, with the host ultimately classing it as “one of the most frustrating, and to a degree, not-so-fun interviews” he'd ever been a part of.

In recent times, Helwani has found himself covering WWE for BT Sport, with the self-professed passionate fan of the business getting the chance to lend his voice to video packages used for an Extreme Rules and now Elimination Chamber video hype package over the last few months, too.
