Tony Khan Was Happy To Work With WWE For MAJOR Crossover Match (AEW News)

AEW boss Tony Khan claims he "would have supported" Adam Copeland's bid for one more rematch vs. John Cena during JC's WWE retirement tour. Copeland memorably feuded with Cena on and off for years as 'Rated-R Superstar' Edge over in WWE, and the Canadian spoke passionately about working one more bout against his old rival before John called it a career.

Unfortunately, the fact that Adam worked for All Elite was always going to be a major stumbling block for his hopes and wishes. Speaking via Metro, Khan said: "I was never asked, and as far as I know Adam was never asked, so it’s hard to say; but when there have been opportunities to collaborate, I have been collaborative in the past".

Instead, Cena retired without facing his old enemy one last time. He did, however, get to tumble with the likes of Brock Lesnar, CM Punk and AJ Styles during his retirement jaunt before eventually tapping out to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December 2025.

Copeland watched that date come and go without ever getting to lace up his boots for another whirl with 'Big Match John'. From afar, the duo paid various tributes to one another throughout other matches, which was a lovely, sentimental touch. Hardcore fans picked up those moments, at least.

It's interesting that Khan would've played ball with WWE on an inter promotional battle had they been keen. There was no sign of that though, so it was never really on the cards.
