Top AEW Star Requests Release From Contract

It looks like that's a wrap on this ex-WWE star's time in Tony Khan's AEW.

Fightful is reporting that Miro has asked for a release from his current AEW contract. The Bulgarian signed fresh terms in 2022, and his deal isn't set to lapse until 2026. However, it seems the 'Redeemer' fancies leaving the promotion and going elsewhere before that.

Miro joined All Elite in September 2020, but it's fair to say he's experienced an up and down career with Tony Khan's company. The one-time TNT Champion has expressed some frustrations with AEW's creative via social media before, but his current relationship with management is unclear.

It doesn't seem to be good though.

It's also unclear if there'd be interest from Triple H's side on a WWE return. Fightful didn't go into details on that in their report, but it's worth talking about. A revived run as Rusev (and the rekindling of the popular 'Rusev Day' gimmick) could be just the tonic he needs heading into 2025. It'd certainly get fans talking positively about him again.

For now, all that's known is that Miro would rather put All Elite Wrestling in his rear view mirror following a four year stay with the group.
