An injury to Nikkita Lyons prompted WWE to switch up its ongoing NXT Women's Breakout Tournament during last night's episode of NXT 2.0.

It was announced during the broadcast that a "freak injury" suffered while training had led to Lyons' withdrawal. Nikkita was supposed to be facing Fallon Henley at the semi-final stage, with Henley's affiliates Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen breaking the news.

Although Henley was initially supposed to receive a bye to the tournament final, Tiffany Stratton stepped up to challenge her with the spot on the line. Later, Stratton beat Henley to punch her ticket for the final, which will see her face white-hot up-and-comer Roxanne Perez.

While there is currently no word on the severity of Nikkita's injuries, she tweeted the following after last night's NXT 2.0:-

Best wishes to Lyons in her recovery.

Lyons, 22, has been one of the strongest pushed members of the NXT 2.0 women's division in recent months. Signed to WWE since 2021, she has spent much of her time feuding with rival Lash Legend and defeated Arianna Grace to advance in the ongoing Breakout Tournament a few weeks ago.
