Triple H Calls Out Sting For WWE Fast Lane PPV
It's the first time Sting has been advertised for a WWE PPV.
It was announced via Twitter during Monday's Raw broadcast that WWE's on screen COO Triple H has challenged Sting for a face to face encounter at the WWE Fast Lane PPV in Memphis on February 22. Here's what was in the tweet: "Per The Authority: @WWE COO @TripleH has challenged @Sting to meet face to face at #WWEFastLane Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 on the @WWENetwork" The key point in that is that they are advertising it as a "face to face" confrontation. It's not a match. When the babyface is challenged they usually accept. That's why they are the good guy. They're going to use this segment to build to the rumored WrestleMania 31 match. Don't forget that WWE usually refers to him as "The Vigilante" Sting although it looks like they had no room in that tweet. This will be the fist time that Sting is actually being promoted for a WWE event. His first appearance at Survivor Series was a surprise although it did get leaked online a couple of days earlier. His first Raw appearance from two weeks ago was also unadvertised, but was very well done since he cost Seth Rollins his match against John Cena that led to Hunter hiring back Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan. It's expected that Sting will only wrestle one match in WWE and that it's going to be against Triple H at WrestleMania 31. Sting will turn 56 years old one week before WM31 takes place. As they say in wrestling, his bump card is probably full or close to it. He'll probably get the win over Triple H. They can induct him into the Hall of Fame in 2016. Perhaps Sting will choose to wrestle more than one match if he feels up to it. For right now we can only assume it's the one match. There have been reports that WWE management has been really happy with the reception Sting's been getting. There are a lot of fans that have been waiting for him to show up in WWE for so long and they have been ready to cheer him whenever he shows up. It's smart for WWE to advertise him for Fast Lane. It's going to build up the anticipation as well as get people excited about checking out the show on WWE Network. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igPTAjZ-A0s Will Sting talk? So far he hasn't said a word in WWE. He's always been a pretty good talker, but part of the mystique of this crow gimmick of his is to not say a word and be very mysterious. He might do a promo at Fast Lane, but if not that's okay too. That's part of the appeal. People just don't know what he might do. That's why the character works so well. The face to face confrontation will be a big deal at Fast Lane. One of them will make the challenge for WrestleMania and off they go from there.
