As with fellow combat sport implantee Cain Velasquez, WWE plan to use Tyson Fury at the upcoming Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia, rather than WrestleMania 36.

Fury was involved in an altercation with Braun Strowman on the huge SmackDown premiere on FOX this past Friday, with early speculation suggesting they'd be aligned for a clash at the Show of Shows in Tampa next April.

According to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, that's not the case. He says that two separate sources have told him the British boxer has been drafted in for an appearance in Riyadh, with a view to promoting his upcoming fight with Deontay Wilder. ESPN and FOX were said to have worked together on making this happen.

He also says that a deal was only agreed on Monday.

Whilst nothing's certain, this hints that Fury's stint in WWE will be a short one. It also casts an even darker shadow - if that was possible - on the existence of Crown Jewel. Not only are WWE now withholding stars to please a very rich audience of one, but they are doing so as a promotional vehicle for their new network.

At present, only one match is scheduled for Crown Jewel 2019, as Team Hogan, currently consisting of Seth Rollins and Rusev, will take on a Team Flair including Randy Orton and King Corbin. It is widely expected that Brock Lesnar will meet Cain Velasquez.

WWE's latest trip to Saudi Arabia takes place 31 October.
