It has been over two years since Tyson Kidd was last present at a WWE TV taping, but he was back on the scene this week, albeit in a non-wrestling capacity.

According to PWInsider, the former WWE Tag Team Champion was backstage at SmackDown in San Diego, California this past Tuesday night, making it the first show he has attended since suffering a severe neck injury in June 2015.

Tyson was hurt in a Raw dark match with Samoa Joe, and was initially expected to miss a year of action. He had 16 staples, four screws, and a steel rod inserted into his neck as part of his treatment, and while Kidd has never officially retired, he isn't expected to ever return to the ring.

According to this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kidd's presence at SmackDown wasn't a one off, and he has reportedly been hired as a backstage producer for the blue brand, which will also allow him to film Total Divas footage with wife Natalya. Tyson was omitted from the last season of WWE's signature reality show, but recently confirmed that he'll be involved in the upcoming run:-
