In terms of records, both men have fought some of the greatest fighters to have ever competed in the lighter weight classes. It's honestly astounding the level of talent these men have faced - and successfully beaten - during their MMA careers.

For Cerrone, he truly has lived up to his famous phrase of "any time, any place" as he has fought nearly every worthy fighter available at lightweight and welterweight. Although Cowboy went 2-2 last year, he lost to Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson. Ferguson is fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title next and Gaethje is on the cusp of a title shot himself, so being beaten by them is nothing to be ashamed of.

However, his victories in 2019, which were against Alex Hernandez and Al Iaquinta, proved that not only was Cerrone as vicious and as violent as ever, he had also become the wily veteran who had a fair few tricks up his sleeve.

McGregor has been far less active compared to Cerrone for a multitude of reasons, but mostly due to his other business ventures. His last fight was a loss to Nurmagomedov in 2018, so we honestly don't have a clue how he will look come fight night as he's been out of the Octagon for over a year. While this might concern some of McGregor's fans, it's extremely possible that his time away from the Octagon has reignited his fire to compete.
