UFC 246: Conor McGregor Vs. Donald Cerrone In-Depth Breakdown

1. Overall Verdict

Despite a long lay-off from fighting inside the Octagon, this should be a win for McGregor. When you've achieved as much as he has and earned the amount of money, it's understandable to lack the motivation needed to want to be punched in the face for a living. However, his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 has clearly left a bad taste in his mouth and the only way to begin the process of erasing that is by beating Donald Cerrone.

It won't be an easy battle, as Cerrone possesses plenty of the skills needed to cause the upset and defeat McGregor. However, when it comes to the biggest moments in his career, Cerrone seems to fold and be consumed by the moment. Although it was over four years ago, it's difficult not to look back at his first round title-fight loss to Rafael dos Anjos as an example of how he handles the bigger fights in his career.

Cerrone has certainly done enough to give himself a chance of victory, but it just feels like McGregor will be too quick and too smart for him during their fight.
