Update On Goldust vs Cody Rhodes Match At WWE Wrestlemania 28

The problem seems to be that WWE don't think the match has enough marquee value to take place at Wrestlemania and would instead prefer putting it on a ordinary PPV.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that whilst WWE are open to Dustin Runnels' (Goldust) pitching for a title vs. career program against his brother Cody Rhodes heading into Wrestlemania 28, they are less keen about it happening on that show. Runnels recently pitched the idea to the company a couple of weeks ago and started a twitter petitioning campaign requesting fans to sign their signatures if they want to see the match. Cody Rhodes is the current Intercontinental Champion, holding a title that became synonymous with Goldust in the late 90's. Dustin Runnels is also a former WWE Tag Team partner with Booker T, who has just started a program of his own against Rhodes on recent shows, so there's even a logical step built into place for Goldust to implemented into that storyline somewhere down the road. The problem seems to be that WWE don't think the match has enough marquee value to take place at Wrestlemania and would instead prefer putting it on a ordinary PPV. Either way, we expect Goldust to be a surprise entry in the 30-man Royal Rumble, making one of his many returns at the PPV (though he did briefly appear on SmackDown this week).
