Update On Matt Cardona's AEW Status

Just how long is the former Intercontinental Champion signed to AEW for?

Having debuted on AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday, now comes an update on Matt Cardona’s AEW contract status.

As per WrestlingInc, Cardona’s current AEW agreement is a five-appearance deal. Of course, one of those appearance was eaten up this week, while the former Zack Ryder is also booked to team with Cody vs. The Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds and John Silver next Wednesday.

Just because Cardona is only contracted for five outings doesn’t mean that things can’t change, and it would seem logical to expect the one-time Intercontinental Champion to end up signing a longer-term deal with AEW at some point in the near future – particularly given his close friendship with Cody.

Released as part of WWE’s mass cull on April 15, Cardona’s WWE no-compete clause recently expired and he finally made his much-hoped-for debut in All Elite Wrestling a matter of days ago.

What's next for Matt Cardona remains to be seen, but one can only presume that big things could be in the future for someone who did so much with so little during a 14-year spell with WWE. Wherever Cardona does end up inking a long-term deal, that promotion could have a massively popular star on their hands.
