Rey Mysterio appears to have finally signed a new WWE contract, ending a saga that began several months ago, when it was revealed the lucha legend had been working without a deal following his old one's expiration.

Dave Meltzer writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mysterio is believed to have inked a new three-year contract with the world's biggest promotion.

This is no great surprise. All signs have been pointed towards Rey re-signing since the original story broke, with Meltzer and other sources treating it as a formality. Now, with his son Dominik set to wrestle Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020 this weekend, it looks like Mysterio's future has been ironed out.

Per the original reports, Rey had previously requested a pay rise from WWE, only to be told by Vince McMahon that this wouldn't be possible due to the ongoing global health crisis. This is despite his market-leading promotion heading towards record profits in 2020.

Now 45, Mysterio's latest WWE run began in September 2018, having previously appeared in that year's Royal Rumble and Greatest Royal Rumble. Dominik's burgeoning career is likely a huge part of him sticking around.
