WWE's next big NXT TakeOver event, XXX, goes down this Saturday night (22 August). An important piece of the SummerSlam weekend puzzle, its lineup was handed a couple of new additions on last night's show.

The most notable developments are Johnny Gargano and the Velveteen Dream's addition to the ladder match for the vacant North American Championship. Gargano earned his spot by defeating Ridge Holland in a second chance qualifying bout, taking advantage of Candice LeRae's interference and the referee's distraction by hitting a low blow, then One Final Beat for the fall.

Dream's spot came from beating Finn Balor in the night's main event. It was another screwy finish, as multiple ladder match participants interfered, as well as Timothy Thatcher, before Dream pinned Balor following his Purple Rainmaker.

A pre-show match has also been added to the card, with Legado del Fantasma, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, and Breezango fighting for the right to challenge NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium at a later date.
