Former NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream could be set for a spell on the sidelines following WWE's claims that the 24-year-old was hurt while wrestling Roderick Strong on the black and gold brand's USA Network debut this week.

WWE uploaded the following injury reported last night:-

Host Matt Camp quoted "lumbar pain," claiming that Dream, who took two End of Heartaches from Strong in their title fight, "was seen walking gingerly backstage."

This vague description of Velveteen's condition means there's every chance this is a work, as does the lack of visual evidence compared to the other names mentioned in the video.

Camp also noted that Kona Reeves was injured while wrestling Damian Priest in the night's dark match, accompanied by a pretty convincing image:-

Ouch.

The video also states that Arturo Ruas, who wrestled Pete Dunne, is awaiting results from a finger X-ray and hasn't yet been cleared, though Matt Riddle and Killian Dain's violent main event yielded no injuries.

Regardless of whether or not some of these injuries are worked, content like this really helps put the action (and its consequences for the competitors) over. Here's hoping WWE persist with these videos.
